Remittance hits a record in February

Expatriate Bangladeshis have sent a record amount of remittances in February 2021. Bangladesh received a total of $1.78 billion (BDT 15,138 crore) remittance in February.

According to the central bank, remittances in February were up 18 percent or 32.84 crore dollars more than that of the month of last year. In February last year, remittances came to $1.45 billion.

In the first eight months of the current financial year (July-February), remittances hit $1,6.68 billion. Bangladesh Bank's foreign exchange reserves are in a positive position due to strong remittance inflows. Last February 24, the central bank's reserves exceeded 44.02 billion dollars for the first time.
