After stopping inoculation of the first dose of coronavirus vaccine in-country, the Department of Health has announced that the registration for vaccination will remain closed for the time being.
Additional Director General of the Department of Health Professor Dr. Meerjady Sabrina Flora confirmed this information to media today.
"For the time being, we have suspended the registration for vaccines," said Dr. Meerjady Sabrina Flora. "You know, the vaccine consignment did not come as per the agreement. That's why we want to inoculate those who already registered for vaccine," She added.
Registration for the Covid-19 vaccination program will remain closed until further notice. She says registration will resume when the first dose of vaccine begins.
Earlier, on April 26, Bangladesh suspended administering the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine amid uncertainty over the timely arrival of shipments from India.
According to the Department of Health, 31,6709 people have been inoculated for the second dose till May 5 while 58,19,757 people have been vaccinated for the first dose. A nationwide vaccination program was launched in Bangladesh on February 7, 2021.
