Regent scam: ACC quizzes ex-DGHS DG

The former director-general (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad has appeared in the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for the second day in a row. He is being interrogated about Shahed, the chairman of the controversial Regent Hospital.
The former DG came to the ACC office on Thursday morning. A team of ACC led by its director Sheikh Md Fanafilla interrogated him.
Earlier on August 6, the ACC summoned five officials, including Azad, for questioning over various irregularities in the health sector.
A letter signed by ACC director Mir Mohammad Zainul Abedin Shibli asked Abul Kalam Azad to appear before the commission on August 12 while another letter signed by another director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafillah asked him appeared on August 13.
According to the letter, he was asked to appear on August 12 and August 13 over N95 mask and PPE scam and the Regent Hospital scam respectively.
Meanwhile, Azad claimed that he is an honest and sincere officer after facing the ACC team on August 12.
