The Appellate Division on Tuesday has upheld the death sentence for convicted Razakar Syed Mohammad Kaiser, a war criminal for crimes against humanity.

After the hearing, the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order. This is the 9th case in the Appellate Division against the verdict of the International Criminal Tribunal. 

On December 23, 2014, The International Criminal Tribunal-2 sentenced Syed Kaiser to death for murder, genocide, rape in Brahmanbaria and Habiganj during the Great Liberation War.  

On January 19, 2015, his lawyers appealed against the verdict. On July 10 last year, the appeal hearing of Syed Mohammad Kaiser was begun. 

Of the 16 prosecution’s allegations against Syed Mohammad Kaiser, 14 were undoubtedly proved in tribunal verdict. Of these, he was sentenced to death on charges no. 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16.
