Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan is dreaming of winning the T20 World Cup. He thinks that the Afghan team has the “potential to win” the World Cup in the future.
Afghan cricket has improved a lot in the last 12 years. There has been an improvement in the rankings. After the ODIs in 2009, the Afghans got Test status in 2017. The terror-stricken country qualified for the T20 World Cup in the UAE this year.
“We have achieved a lot in the last 10 years as a team,” said Rashid, who also played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE. “We came from a place where we had no chance, we came from that stage and played in several World Cups. Every country dreams of getting Test status and we got that. We are playing Tests. We have achieved a lot.”
Noting that Afghanistan wants to touch the World Cup trophy, Rashid added, “We have the capacity and we have set a goal to win the World Cup one day in the future, especially the T20.”
“This is everyone’s dream, this is the goal of all the players and we can achieve this goal. We have that confidence in our own abilities and I am sure we will be able to achieve that goal in the future,” Rashid Khan said.
