After a six-month-long hiatus due to coronavirus pandemic, Ramna Park has been reopened for the public today.
On Sunday (September 27), the Public Works Department and the High Court, which are in charge of park maintenance, revealed the information.
From now on, the park will be open daily from 6 am to 10 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm, according to Public Works Department sources.
A writ petition was filed on August 8 seeking directions to open Ramna Park for public walking after a long hiatus. A bench comprising High Court Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md. Khairul Alam ordered the park to reopen on September 17.
The park was reopened on Sunday (September 27) morning in the wake of the order, the state's lawyer told the High Court bench.
The government declared a general holiday in the country on March 26 to deal with the coronavirus outbreak. The park has been closed since that day.
