Ramadan in Bangladesh begins Saturday

Bangladesh will start fasting from Saturday as the moon of the holy month of Ramadan has been sighted in the sky of the country.

The announcement was made after a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the evening. State Minister for Religion Advocate Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah presided over the meeting.

Taraweeh prayer is starting from tonight on the occasion of Ramadan. However, the Ministry of Religion has given instructions about Taraweeh and Iftar mahfil to deal with the coronavirus situation.

According to the directive, not more than 12 persons including 10 devotees and two imams would be allowed to offer Isha and Taraweeh prayers in mosques during the month of Ramadan amid the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

Apart from them, other worshipers will perform Isha and Taraweeh prayers in their respective homes. Everyone will personally pray for the mercy and deliverance of the greatness of Allah through recitation, remembrance and supplication.

Besides, no public gathering in the name of iftar mahfil will be allowed. The Ministry of Religious Affairs Ministry on Thursday issued a directive in this regard. If these instructions are violated, the local administration and law enforcement will take legal action.

According to the schedule of Sehri and Iftar, the last time of having Sehri in Dhaka 4:05 am and Iftar will be at 6:28 pm.
