Rajshahi sees 16 Covid-19 deaths in 24hrs

Another 16 people died of Covid-19 and symptoms at the Corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning. Eight of them died of Covid-19, seven died of symptoms and one died after being recovered from the virus.
RMCH hospital director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani said “with the 16 deaths, a total of 245 people died within 23 days” (June 1-23) at the Corona unit of the hospital. 119 of them died after virus identification and the rest of them died with symptoms.
He added that five of the eight people died of Covid-19 from Rajshahi, one from Chapainawabganj, one from Natore and one from Naogaon. Of the 9 people who died with symptoms – 3 from Rajshahi, 2 from Chapainawabganj, one from Natore, one from Naogaon, and one from Jhenaidah. “Among the dead were 11 men and five women.”
RMCH hospital director said 60 people have been admitted to RMCH Hospital in the last 24 hours. Of these, 44 are from Rajshahi, six from Chapainawabganj, two from Natore, five from Naogaon, two from Pabna and one from another district. Besides, 42 people have recovered and left the hospital.
As of Wednesday morning, a total of 410 patients have been admitted opposite of 309 beds of the hospital. 393 people were admitted on Tuesday.
A total of 554 sample test was done in two labs in Rajshahi, 176 people yielding the positive cases. The results of the samples of two PCR labs published on Tuesday night show that the virus positivity rate in Rajshahi is 33.4 percent and 25.77 percent in Chapainawabganj.
