A college student named Iftikhar Ifti, 18, was killed when a truck hit him in the Manikdia area of the capital’s Jatrabari at around 10:00 am on Friday. Another student was seriously injured in the incident.
Locals rescued the two in critical condition and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared Ifti dead.
“Ananta sustained serious injuries in both legs and hands. He is being treated in the emergency department,” their classmate Abrarul Haque said.
He added that two people went out on motorcycles in the morning. Ifti was driving the motorcycle at the time of the accident.
It is learned that Ifti and Anant are the residents of the Bashabo and Kadamtala areas. Ifti, son of Md. Khalil, was a second-year HSC student of Rajarbagh Police Line School and College. Ananta is a second-year student at Notre Dame College.
DMCH hospital police box in charge Md. Bachchu Mia said the body was kept in the morgue for autopsy.
