Rainfall likely to increase further

Rain or thundershowers is likely to increase further in the next 72 hours or within three days. At the same time, day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the country.
The information was obtained in a weather bulletin signed by Meteorologist Md. Shaheenul Islam, deputy director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
According to the country’s Met Office, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions
Besides, moderately heavy to heavy downpours are likely to occur at a few places over the Dhaka division and at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram division.
Meanhwile, Meteorologist Md. Shaheenul Islam said in a weather bulletin that the low-pressure area over Bihar and adjoining area has been persisting. The axis of the monsoon trough is running through Rajsthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, the center of the low, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. As a result, the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak over North Bay, he added.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 35.4°C yesterday at Chandpur in the Chattogram division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 22.9°C at Dimla in the Rangpur division.
The country’s highest rainfall, on the other hand, was recorded at 101mm in the last 24 hours at Tetulia in the Rangpur division.
