Rainfall likely to decrease

Rainfall activity may decrease in the next 72 hours or within three days, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a weather forecast.
The country’s Met Office forecasted that “light to moderate rain or thundershowers” accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
Besides, “moderately heavy to heavy downpours” are likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, the weather bulletin also said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin added.
It is learned that the axis of the monsoon trough has run through Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh. As one of its associated troughs has extended upto North Bay, the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 34.0°C yesterday at Tetulia in the Rangpur division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 24.2°C at Sandwip in the Chattogram division.
Besides, the country’s maximum rainfall in the 24 hours was recorded 193mm at Sandwip in the Chattogram division.
