Rain or thundershowers activity is likely to continue for another three days, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a weather bulletin issued on Wednesday.
The country’s Met Office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind of (30-40) kph is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.
Besides, heavy to very heavy rains were likely to occur at many places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions during the period.
“Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country,” the country’s Met Office added.
Meanwhile, the low over North Bay and the adjoining area is currently lying over the southwestern part of Bangladesh and the adjoining area as a well-marked low. “It is likely to move Northwestwards,” the BMD office said.
It is learned that the axis of monsoon has troughed runs through Rajsthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, the center of the well-marked low to Assam. So, one of its associated troughs has extended up to North Bay. As a result, the monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 35.5 degree Celsius yesterday in Sylhet district while today’s minimum was recorded 24.0 degree Celsius at Sandwip and Teknaf of Chattogram division.
Yesterday’s highest rainfall in the country was recorded at 328 mm at Teknaf in the Chattogram division.
