Rainfall activity in the country is likely to continue for the next 72 hours or three days, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a weather bulletin issued on Wednesday.
The weather forecast says light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
Besides, the rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with “moderately heavy to very heavy falls” at places over the southern part of the country, Met Office said.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period, the bulletin added.
Accroding to the BMD, the low over Bihar and adjoining area has been persisted. The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Center of the low, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh.
“One of its associated troughs has been extended up to North Bay,” the Met Office said, adding that the monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.
The country’s maximum temperature recorded 36.0°C yesterday at Sylhet district while today’s minimum temperature recorded 22.5°C at Feni in Chattogram division. The highest rainfall for the 24 hours was recorded at 98mm at Kutubdia district.
Today’s sunset will be at 6:47 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:11 am.
