Rain, thundershowers likely over country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Sunday predicted rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at many places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over southern part of the country," said Met Office release issued this morning.
Besides, weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the release added.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the release.
Meanwhile, the deep depression over East Central Bay and adjoining Northeast Bay moved westwards and intensified into a Cyclonic Storm 'GULAB' over Northwest Bay and adjoining west-central Bay. It is likely to move West-Northwestards further.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Centre of the Cyclone to Assam across Bangladesh. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
The country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded by 36.8 degrees Celsius at Mymensingh and minimum temperature today was recorded by 24.4 degrees Celsius at Tangail. Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was 54 millimeters (mm) at Dhaka.
