Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Monday forecasted that many places over the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today. 

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Sylhet division; at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country," said a Met office press release issued this morning. 

Meanwhile, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Faridpur, M.Court, Rajshahi, Tarash, Dinajpur, Khulna, Satkhira and Jashore and it may continue till tomorrow morning. 

Besides, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period, said the release.  

The highest temperature was recorded yesterday 37.0 degrees Celsius in M.Court under Chattogram and today’s minimum temperature is 25.0 degrees Celsius at Tetulia under Rangpur division. 

The highest rainfall for last 24 hours till 6 pm today was recorded 83 mm in Sylhet. 

The sunsets at 6:47 pm today and rises at 5:23 am tomorrow in the capital.
