Rain likely to continue for next 72 hrs

As an outlook for the next 72 hours, Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted: "Rainfall activity may continue."
The Met Office also forecasted many places in all divisions of the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with moderately heavy to heavy falls in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country," said a Met Office release issued this morning.
Besides, day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
The low over Bihar and adjoining area merged with the monsoon axis, the Met Office said, adding that the axis of monsoon trough runs through the Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay, the release added.
Country’s maximum temperature was recorded yesterday by 34.5 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur in Rangpur and the lowest temperature today was recorded by 22.2 degrees Celsius at Feni in the Chattogram division.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00 am today was recorded by 110 millimeters (mm) at Hatiya under the Chattogram division.
The sun sets at 6:48 pm today and rises at 5:11 am tomorrow in the capital.
