Rain likely at many parts over the country

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9:00 am.

Besides, the mild heat wave that is sweeping over the country may abate in the preceding 24 hours.

This was forecasted in a weather bulletin signed by Meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman, deputy director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), on Saturday.

According to the country’s Met Office, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over  Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at a  few places over Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

The mild heat wave that is sweeping over the regions of Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni, Chandpur, Pabna, Bogura, Sirajgonj, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Jashore, Khulna, Barishal, Bhola and Sylhet and it may abate from some places, the weather bulletin said.

“Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country,” it added.

Meanwhile, Meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman said the low over Northwest Bay and adjoining West-central Bay is currently lying over Coastal north  Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha and adjoining West-central Bay.

One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay, he also said, adding that the South-west monsoon has withdrawn from the northern part of Bangladesh. “Monsoon is less active elsewhere over Bangladesh and weak
over North Bay,” Meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman said in the weather bulletin.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 38.2°C yesterday at Bogura in the Rajshahi district while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 23.4°C in Chattogram city.

Today’s sunset will be at 5:32 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:57 am.
