Rain likely as monsoon fairly active over country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday predicted rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty wind at many places over the country in 24 hours ending at 9:00 am tomorrow.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country," said a met office release issued this morning.
Besides, day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the release added.
Meanwhile, the axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bangal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends upto North Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
The country's highest temperature yesterday was recorded 34.5 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and today's minimum temperature was recorded 24.0 degrees Celsius at Sitakunda in the Chattogram division.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded 99 mm at Khulna.
The sunsets at 5:58 pm today and rises at 5:46 am tomorrow in the capital.
