Rain likely as monsoon fairly active over Bangladesh

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday predicted that many places of the country are likely to experience rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today as monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy fall at isolated places over the country," said a Met Office release issued this morning.
Besides, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded on Tuesday at 35.0 degrees Celsius at Dimla in Rangpur division and minimum temperature today 24.2 degrees Celsius at Nikli in Dhaka division.
Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded 35 millimeters (mm) at Chandpur in Chattogram division.
Today’s sunset at 6:49 PM and tomorrow’s sunrise at 5:13 AM at Dhaka.
