Rain likely ‍at many places

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Friday predicted that rain or thundershower is likely to occur in many parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am.

“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Khulna and Mymensingh Divisions with hails at isolated places,” said a Met Office bulletin issued this morning.

However, the weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country during the period, the bulletin said.

A mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Khulna divisions and the regions of Rangamati, Chandpur, Barishal, Srimongal and Sayedpur and it may abate from some places, said the bulletin.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, it added.

The maximum temperature was recorded yesterday 38.5 degrees Celsius in Ishurdi of Rajshahi Division, while today’s minimum temperature was 17.4 degree Celsius in Tetulia of Rangpur Division.

The sun sets at 6:16 pm today and rises at 5:47 am tomorrow in the capital.
