Raihan murder: Chargesheet filed against SI Akbar, 6 others

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has filed a chargesheet in the court against ousted SI Akbar and six policemen in connection with the death of Raihan, who was tortured at the Bandarbazar police outpost in Sylhet.
PBI filed the chargesheet in the Sylhet court on Wednesday.
Raihan Ahmed, a resident of Akhalia area of Sylhet city, was picked up from the Kastghar area on October 10 last year and tortured at the Bandarbazar police outpost by police personnel including then SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, in charge of the outpost. He later died at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The day after Raihan’s murder, his wife Tahmina Akter Tanni filed a murder case with the Kotwali police station.
Police have arrested SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, SI Hasan Uddin, ASI Asheque Elahi, Constable Titu Chandra Das and Harunur Rashid of Bandarbazar outpost, the main accused in the case.
