RU student dies of jaundice

Rubel Ahmed, a student of the Economics Department at Rajshahi University (RU) for the 2016-17 session, has died of jaundice (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun).

He died at the ICU of Popular Hospital in the capital on Friday morning. Professor Abdul Wadud, Chairman of Economics Department of the university has confirmed this.

Rubel is the son of Juran Ali Mandal of Punail village of Saturia upazila in Manikganj. He was a residential student of Motihar Hall of the University.

It is learned that Rubel contracted malaria while visiting Bandarban-Khagrachhari a few days ago. After coming from there, he was diagnosed with jaundice which affected his kidney and lung. He was first admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital. But when his condition deteriorated, he was taken to the ICU of Ibn Sina Hospital in the capital. From there he was shifted to Labaid hospital. Later he was taken to the ICU at Popular Hospital in the capital.
