RAB files cases against the ‘millionaire driver’ Malek, seeks 14-day remand

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday around 12:00 am has filed two cases against Abdul Malek, a millionaire driver of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), with the Turag police station in the capital.
Confirming the matter on Monday, Turag police inspector (investigation) Md. Shafiullah said, “RAB has filed two cases against the driver Malek under the Arms and Special Powers Act. He was sent to court on Monday morning after the case.”
Meanwhile, the police have appealed for a 14-days remand for questioning by producing Abdul Malek before the Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Magistrate court.
Investigation officer of the case SI Rubel Sheikh confirmed the information, saying, “A total of 14 days remand, seven days for two cases, has been appealed in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari.”
A team of RAB-1 arrested Abdul Malek from his residence in the Bamnertek area of Kamarpara under Turag police station on Sunday morning. A foreign pistol, a magazine, five rounds of ammunition, 1.5 lakh Bangladeshi counterfeit notes, a laptop and a mobile phone were recovered from him.
