Quader to undergo bypass surgery

Ailing Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will undergo a bypass surgery within days at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore where he is now being treated.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Director Dr Abu Naser Rizvi, who accompanied the ailing politician in Singapore, gave the update of the treatment for the media based on the briefing of the medical board on Tuesday.
He said Mount Elizabeth Hospital doctors found slight problems in his kidneys and infections.
“They (doctors) are thinking of conducting a bypass surgery after controlling the kidney problems and infections in a few days... however, his condition is stable now and gradually improving,” Rizvi said.
Quader was flown to Singapore on an air ambulance on Monday. Later, he was taken to Mount Elizabeth Hospital around 8:50 BST and his treatment began immediately.
He has been admitted to the coronary care unit of the hospital and being treated under the supervision of cardiologist Phillip Koh.
Quader’s wife Isratunnesa Quader are accompanying Quader in the hospital in Singapore.
