Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has called upon all concerned including the BNP to cooperate in forming a neutral election commission.
He made the call while briefing reporters at his official residence in the capital on Wednesday.
Obaidul Quader also made it clear that there is no need to discuss the election-time government now.
The Awami League general secretary said everything related to the election goes under the Election Commission during the polls. The Election Commission is paramount in the election process. The government then only performs routine duties. The government assists the Election Commission to hold an independent, authoritative, free and fair election.
He said the people of the country are at peace under the rule of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The countrymen are not so confused that they will fall into the trap of BNP's reckless politics.
The people have turned away from the BNP long ago. The results of the recent by-elections and local government elections are proof of that, said Obaidul Quader.
