Quader calls rich to stand by helpless people

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has urged the rich and the wealthy people to stand beside the poor and the destitute during coronavirus crisis.

He made the call in a news release signed by Awami League office secretary Biplob Barua on Friday.

In a news release, Road Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader said, “I (Obaidul Quader) am urging the rich and wealthy people in the world to extend their support to the helpless- day-labourer people around us. In the meantime, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has introduced special incentives for these poor people through local administration. They continued to assist.”

He said that, billions of people are quarantined throughout the world to prevent the transmission of this deadly virus. Developed countries around the world are struggling to handle this situation. The rich, the poor, the developed, the developing nations are seeking cooperation from one another to handle the situation.

Obaidul Quader said that humankind is facing a crisis today. Deadly Nobel Coronavirus , COVID-19 is spreading around the World Today. Every day, thousands of people are losing their lives. With the boundless grace of Allah, the overall situation in Bangladesh is still relatively under control. Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Prime Minister Bangabandhu, has been working day and night to protect the health of every citizen of the country. Observing the current situation, she is taking all possible measures to protect the people. In addition to the existing health care services in the country, support is being received from the neighbouring friendly states. In the meantime, the neighbouring states India and China stand side by side. The medical equipments for the treatment  of coronavirus victims has arrived in Dhaka on special aircraft and the country will receive more medical assistances from China within the next few days.

“We want to reassure all the doctors and nurses of the country that all preparations have been taken to prevent and control the coronavirus infection by the government of Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu.” He said, “Don’t be afraid. Together with patience and responsibility and patriotism, all of you must work to prevent this deadly virus. Awareness at home should be built of alert forts.”

He said that in addition to the threat to public health security, the lives of poor and marginalized people have become unbearable. Many have predicted a post-epidemic economic crisis.

Calling all the Awami League activists to stand beside the people, the general secretary said, besides the government, he said, “I call upon all the Awami League leaders, especially local people's representatives, to stand by the people. I urge all the Awami League leaders and public representatives to stay in their respective areas and cooperate with the local administration and the army in the implementation of the government directives in compliance with hygiene. At the same time, I urge people not to listen to any rumours. For accurate information, follow the official instructions circulated on conventional media, television, radio and newspapers. Contact the government-directed hotline number if needed. Notify the administration by identifying wranglers. Such rumours will only intensify our crisis”
