It is a punishable offense for citizens over 18 to move anywhere without a vaccine jab. Those who move without vaccination from August 11 will be punished, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque.
The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting on Tuesday to review the Covid-19 situation.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque presided over the online meeting. After the meeting, the minister informed about the new decision regarding the restrictions.
“If someone makes a movement without a vaccine after August 11 will face punishment,” the minister said, adding everyone has to take the vaccine jab.
Vaccines will be given in 14,000 centers. Even if “the law is not passed, the power to punish will be given by issuing an ordinance”, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque.
The meeting was attended by 12 ministers and state ministers, 16 secretaries, principal staff officers of the armed forces, inspector general of police, director general of DGHS and director of IEDCR.
Meanwhile, citizens over 18 will also be able to register for vaccine jab from August 8. Besides, those who are now 25 can also register for the coronavirus vaccine.
The restrictions have been extended till August 10 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak and the recommendation of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
