South Africa has restricted reigning world champions West Indies’ scorecard to 143 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, as a result, the Proteas will have to score 144 runs to win the match.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis opened the innings for the Windies.
Lewis was aggressive from the start. Simmons, on the other hand, continued to play Test-friendly innings. Both of them played 35 balls each till they were returned to the dugout. Although Lewis scored 56, only 16 runs came from Simmons’ bat.
Then Nicholas Pooran scored 12 off 7 balls, Chris Gayle scored 12 off 12 balls and Andre Russell scored 5 off 4 balls. In the end, Kieron Pollard’s 26-run innings gave the Caribbeans the strength to fight.
Dwaine Pretorius took 3 wickets for South Africa alone. Besides, Keshav Maharaj took two wickets, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje took one wicket each.
