A five-member investigation team of police headquarters is going to Feni on Wednesday in connection with the murder of the madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi. The investigation committee members will visit Sonagazi incident spot. They will investigate whether there was any negligence of the administration.

The committee is led by the Police Headquarters’  DIG SM Ruhul Amin. The remaining three members of the investigation team- two additional police superintendents and one inspector. Feni district police confirmed this to Daily Bangladesh.

It is learned that three days after taking the responsibility of investigating the murder case of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, Banerjee Kumar Majumder, head of the PBI (Police Bureau of Investigation), submitted the initial report of the investigation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP). The report mentioned the negligence of local administration including Sonagazi OC.

The current committee will also investigate whether there was any kind of remissness in the administration, including the real reason behind the incident. The committee will submit the report very soon with the instruction of IGP Javed Patwary’s order, sources said.

Earlier, there was a complaint of sexual harassment of madrasa student Nusrat against the principal Siraj Ud-Daula. Nusrat’s mother Shirin Akhter filed a case with Sonagazi Police Station on March 27. Then the police arrested the principal. Nusrat's family was threatened to lift the case.

On April 6, a group of masked youths, reported to be principal’s stooge, took Nusrat to the rooftop and set her on fire in their bid to kill her.

Five days later, on April 10, Nusrat died in the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Nusrat’s brother filed a case against Madarasa principal Siraj Ud-Daula in this incident.
