Police have submitted a probe report against seven people, including Samiul alias Zulkar Nain Sayer Khan, cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore and Rashtrachinta coordinator Didarul Bhuiyan, in a case filed over posting anti-state content on Facebook under the Digital Security Act.

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Deputy Inspector Afsar Ahmed submitted the probe report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka on Sunday. However, four people, including writer Mushtaq Ahmed, have been acquitted in the case.

The others accused in the case are former director of the Dhaka Stock Exchange Minhaz Mannan, Netra News Editor-in-Chief Tasneem Khalil, Ashik Imran, and Swapan Wahid.

The CTTC also appealed to withdraw charges against four people as its investigation found no evidence of their involvement in the offence. They are writer Mushtaq Ahmed, expatriate journalist Saleh Alam, expatriate blogger Mohiuddin, and Philip Shumakhar.

RAB filed a case against 11 persons on May 5, 2020, on the charges of spreading anti-state falsehood to tarnish the image of Bangladesh and create confusion from a Facebook page.
