Prisoner missing from Kashimpur jail: Six incl chief jailor fired

Six people, including the chief jailor, have been fired over missing a prisoner, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, went missing from Kashimpur Central Jail-2 yesterday. A departmental case has been filed against six others in this incident.

The matter has been confirmed by IG Prison Brigadier General AKM Mostafa Kamal Pasha.

Authorities have formed a three-member committee comprising a DIG prisoner, a senior jail superintendent, and a jailor to look into the disappearance of life-sentenced prisoner Abu Bakar Siddique.

IG Prison Brigadier General AKM Mostafa Kamal Pasha said Abu Bakar went missing from jail on Thursday evening. He was shifted to Kashimpur Central Jail from Rajshahi as a death-row convict in 2011. On July 27, 2012, his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment.

Earlier on May 13, 2015, Abu Bakar remained missing from jail as he went into hiding inside the jail. Later, the jail authorities found him from inside a septic tank the following day.
