Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been lauded globally for her significant role in the reduction of coronavirus mortality in a densely populated country like Bangladesh, said Health Minister Zahid Maleque, on Monday.
“Europe and America are being criticized worldwide. Even neighboring India is struggling to tackle coronavirus,” he said while talking to reporters after the exchange of Eid greetings at the Ministry of Health in the conference room of the Secretariat in the capital.
This information was given in a press release sent from the ministry.
In India, about 50,000 people are infected every day and there are many deaths. But the identified mortality rate in our country is now 1.31 percent. On the other hand, the rate of infection is decreasing day by day. Although there has been a slight increase in Qurbani Eid, the health sector now has the capacity to cope, he said.
Regarding the availability of coronavirus vaccine, the Health Minister said that many countries in the world are on the way to discover the virus vaccine. Some countries are in the third stage of testing. “The government is working to ensure that Bangladesh gets the vaccine first,” he also said.
At the time, Md. Abdul Manna, Secretary of the Health Service Division, Md. Ali Noor, Secretary of the Medical Education And Family Welfare Division and other officials were present.
