President M Abdul Hamid

President M Abdul Hamid has called upon all to celebrate Durga Puja maintaining health guidelines.

He said coronavirus is an invisible enemy. In order to win against this invisible enemy, maintaining health guidelines as well as awareness and joint initiatives are very important. I hope that you will follow the hygiene rules of every activity of Durga Puja.

The President made the call in a message on Wednesday on the occasion of Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community, which will start from Thursday.

The president said the coronavirus epidemic has plunged the entire world into a state of extreme uncertainty. Millions of people have died prematurely. In Bangladesh too, people of different professions and ages have died of coronavirus. Besides, it has affected our economy, education, health, trade and commerce, employment and livelihood.

Expressing sincere greetings and congratulations to the Hindus on the occasion of Durga Puja, the President said that the tradition and culture of ancient Bengal is mixed with Durga Puja. There is a mysterious relationship with nature. That relationship holds the whiteness of autumn and the blueness and brings to the heart the whiteness of virtue. Not only that, besides religious festivals, Durga Puja plays an important role in creating mutual sympathy and unity among the people of the country. Let the Durgotsab of autumn shine in the light of truth and beauty; I wish that the bond of harmony and friendship among all, irrespective of religion and caste, would be more consolidated.

He said that humanity is the eternal message of religion. Religion calls people to the path of justice and welfare, keeps them away from injustice and untruth; Shows the way of liberation. Therefore, in addition to abiding by the religious precepts, we must come forward for the welfare of humanity. We have to stand by the side of the poor and helpless. Communal harmony is an eternal tradition of Bengalis. Collectively, we have to take this tradition forward in our overall progress. May the rich non-communal consciousness, mutual unity, friendship and harmony in the abhorrent Bengali culture inspire us to build the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream, may the world humanity win.

The President further said that Durga Puja is the main religious festival of Bengali Hindus. From time immemorial, the Hindu community of this country has been celebrating Durga Puja with great enthusiasm and in a festive atmosphere through various rituals and ceremonies. Durga Puja is not only a religious festival but also a social festival. On the occasion of Durg Puja relatives, friends, family, neighbors gather irrespective of religion and caste. So this festival is universal. This universality proves - religion belongs to respective, festivals belong to everyone.

In the message, he expressed happiness knowing that Durga Puja is being celebrated with due religious solemnity and various formalities all over the country like every year and wished the Durga Puja in the autumn to be successful and prosperous.
