Preparation in full swing for maiden convocation of JnU

The widely-anticipated and much-hyped first convocation of Jagannath University (JnU) is set to be held at Dhupkhola ground in Old Dhaka area on Saturday. Almost 19,000 graduates are waiting with much enthusiasm and fervor for this event.

The university administration, staff and everyone else concerned are passing busy time to make this grand event success. Already, most of the measures have been done to hold the convocation. 

Chancellor President Abdul Hamid will preside over the grand event while Emeritus Professor Dr Arun Kumar Basak will deliver the convocation speech.  

A total of 18,317 graduates have registered their names to get their respective degrees conferred through the convocation. Among them, some 11,877 are to get their graduation certificates, alongside 4,829 postgraduates, 11 Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) and six doctorates (PhD). Apart from them, 1,574 students will receive their certificates for evening programs. 

Students who will attend the convocation have been asked to collect their costumes, bags, and gifts from offices of their respective departments on January 7, 8, and 9. Besides, the certificate will be given on January 11 (3 pm-8 pm), January 12 and 13 (9 am-4 pm). 

The online registration for the convocation began on March 1.
