Postage stamp released marking Sheikh Russel’s birthday

The 57th birthday of Shaheed Sheikh Russel, youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is being observed today (on Sunday). Marking the day, the Directorate of Posts launched a commemorative postage stamp.
Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the stamp worth Tk 10 at his office.
Besides, envelopes and data cards worth Tk 10 and Tk 5 respectively along with a special seal were also unveiled marking the birthday of Sheikh Russel.
The posts and telecommunications department's public relations officer M Shefayet Hossain revealed the information in a press release.
According to the release, the stamps and envelopes will be on sale from today at the Philatelic Bureau of Dhaka GPO. These will later be sold at all the main post offices and GPOs across the country. Special seals have been arranged in four GPOs for use in the envelopes.
Sheikh Russel, also youngest brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was born on October 18 in 1964 at the historic Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in Dhaka.
He was brutally killed along with most of his family members, including his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on August 15 in 1975 when he was a student of class four at University Laboratory School.
