Pori Moni’s bail plea denied, ordered to send her jail

A court in Dhaka today rejected the bail petition of popular Dhallywood actress Pori Moni and ordered to send her jail after a 6-days remand in two phases in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal’s court passed the order on Friday afternoon, confirmed relevant sources of the court.

Earlier, the CID, the law enforcement agency that investigating the case, produced Pori Moni and Ashraful Islam Dipu in court at 11:55 am. They were then kept in the custody of the court. 

Later, police inspector Kazi Golam Mostafa, investigating officer of the case, appealed to keep them in jail till the end of the investigation. 

Mojibur Rahman, a lawyer for Pori Moni, heard the bail order of the actress. Public prosecutor Abdullah Abu, on the other hand, heard the case for the state, seeking cancellation of the bail. After hearing both sides, the judge rejected the bail petition and ordered them to send to jail. 

On Tuesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate granted a two-day remand to Pori Moni and Ashraful Islam Dipu. Earlier on August 5, Pori Moni and Dipu were put on a 4-days remand.

Earlier, on the night of August 4, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Pori Moni and her accomplice Dipu from the actress’ residence after a four-hour raid. Various drugs were seized from Pori Moni’s house at the time.

On August 5, RAB-1 filed a case against Pori Moni and her accomplice under the Narcotics Act with Banani Police Station.
