Police seek 7-day remand for Pori Moni in drug case

Police have appealed for a seven-day remand for popular Dhaka film actress Pori Moni and her accomplice Ashraful Islam Bipu in a drug case lodged with the Banani Police Station in the capital.
The remand hearing will be held in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid on Thursday.
This information has been obtained from the sources of the general registration branch of the concerned court.
On the day, the accused were produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. The investigating officer of the case then appealed for their seven-day remand for the proper investigation of the case.
Earlier, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Pori Moni from her residence in the capital’s Banani on Wednesday based on “specific allegations”. During this, various drugs such as LSD, Ice, and huge bottles of liquor were recovered from her house. Later, she was taken to RAB headquarters in the afternoon and was questioned till midnight.
Pori Moni, along with Raj and their two aides, were taken to Banani Police Station on Thursday (05-08-2021) afternoon.
There, RAB filed a case against Pori Moni and her accomplice Bipu with the Banani police station in the capital under the Narcotics Act.
According to the case, Pori Moni had been using drugs since 2016. She even used horrible drugs like LSD and Ice. For this, she made a minibar at home where she used to organize regular liquor parties. Film producer Nazrul Islam Raj and many others used to deliver various types of drugs including liquor to Pori Moni’s house and took part in parties.
Pori Moni came to the film industry in 2014 from Pirojpur with the help of Nazrul Islam Ra. So far, she has acted in 30 movies and 5 to 7 TVCs.
