A police official was sacked for testing positive in the dope test.
The police officer identified as SI Arif Hossain Mallick of Pallabi Police Station was sacked on Monday after conducting dope tests on thousands of members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recently, the DMP sources said.
According to the list of DMP headquarters, evidence of heroin use has been found against SI Arif. There are also several drug-related allegations against him. A secret intelligence report also confirmed that Arif was “friends” with drug dealers.
Sources say that the Bihari-non-Bengali camps in the Pallabi area are not only known as drug dens but also drugs are bought and sold freely there. Due to his drug addiction, Arif formed a “special friendship” with drug dealers. The “handsome-looking” Arif also used to collect drugs from this spot regularly.
“I was closed (withdrawn) in Rajarbagh on Monday,” Arif said, however, he avoided the issue of dismissal.
Pallabi Police Station OC Kazi Wazed Ali said, “I have heard that Arif has been sacked, but haven’t received the paper yet.”
