Ekushey Padak awardee poet and architect Rabiul Hussain passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un). He was suffering from blood complications. 

He died on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital. He was 76.  

Poet Rabiul Hussain was being treated at the hospital for two weeks. He was taken to the CCU on Monday when conditions deteriorated.

Rabiul Hussein was born in 1947 in Jhenaidah’s Shailkupa. The poet — received Ekushey Padak in 2018 for his contribution to language and literature —  also worked to preserve the commemoration of the War of Liberation.

He is a trustee of the Liberation War Museum of Bangladesh and the Memorial Preservation Center of the War of Liberation, a member of the executive council of the Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee.

His notable books — ‘Ki Ache Ei Ondhokarer Goveere’, ‘Aro Untrishti Chaad’, ‘Shtirbindur Mohon Songkot’, ‘Korpurer Danawala Pakhi’, ‘Amongno Katakuti Khela’, ‘Bishubrekha’, ‘Amnibash’, ‘Kobitapunja’, ‘Shopner Sahosi Manushera’, ‘Je Nodi Ratrir’, ‘Eisob Neel Opoman’, ‘Oproyojoniyo Probondho’, ‘Duronto Kishore’, ‘Bangladesher Sthapotyo Sanskriti’, ‘Nirbachito Kobita’, ‘Golpogatha’, ‘Choriye Dilam Choraguli’ etc.
