Plasma Therapy: Experimental treatment begins in Khulna

Plasma is being given to a coronavirus patient
A coronavirus patient has been given plasma therapy for the first time at the Khulna Corona Hospital (Diabetic Hospital) on Thursday afternoon.
Khulna Medical College Hospital Blood Circulation Department Management Committee Member Secretary Md. Zillur Rahman Tarun said, Dr. Md. Manjurul, the intern doctor of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital was infected with coronavirus on April 1. He is a resident of Bagerhat. He later recovered with treatment and tested negative.
Later, at the call of doctors, he agreed to give plasma to a patient undergoing treatment at Khulna Corona Hospital. He gave his plasma to the blood bank of the hospital. Dr. Manjurul’s plasma was given to a patient on Thursday.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Ahad of Khulna Medical College, director of KMCH, Dr. Munshi Reza Sekendar, coordinator of coronavirus prevention and treatment management committee, Dr. Mehedi Newaz, Focal person of Corona Dedicated hospital Dr. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Dr. Shoilendranath Biswas and Dr. Firoz were present there.
The overall management was led by the Principal Investigator of the Convulsive Plasma Therapy Clinical Trial Project and the Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Dr. SM Tushar Alam, and Co-Investigator Professor Dr. Sheikh Amir Hossain, Associate Professor Dr. Sheikh Farid Uddin Ahmed and others.
