Plasma therapy is being used as part of clinical trials in coronavirus situations in the country. So, a ‘Plasma Support Center’ has been inaugurated by the initiative of the Broadcast Journalist Center (BJC) after getting the expected results in plasma therapy in the treatment of coronavirus.

The plasma support center was inaugurated at Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Nagar Bhaban at Gulshan-2 on Saturday afternoon after being set up by Gazi Group, DNCC, Sheikh Hasina Plastic Surgery and Burn Institute, Badhon – voluntary blood donors association, Sobai Mile Sobar Dhaka, olwel.com.

At the time, Shakil Ahmed, member secretary of BJC Trust, said no effective treatment for coronavirus had been discovered yet. Therefore, the government has approved the application of ‘plasma therapy’ as part of the clinical trial for the virus treatment.

He said plasma therapy has already started in the country. As per the expert doctors, it has yielded the expected results and is saving lives. So now for those who want to give and receive plasma to save lives, a plasma support center has been inaugurated to facilitate communication between the two.

He added that efforts will be made to meet the plasma demand through a digital platform and a call center run by volunteers. “The hotline number of this Plasma Support Center is 0184118824-25,” said Shakil Ahmed.

Meanwhile, Gazi Golam Mortuza, deputy managing director of Gazi Group, said there was no proven drug in the world to deal with the Covid-19 situation. The government has recently approved plasma therapy as a clinical trial. “Experts also said that good results are being obtained in this case. So, this ‘Plasma Support Center’ has been initiated,” he also said.

Those who need plasma can contact here. Again, if someone wants to donate plasma after the recovery from Covid-19, they can donate, he added.

“We have to help each other to deal with this Covid-19 situation. We think that working side by side with the government will help in overcoming the situation,” Gazi Golam Mortuza further said.
