Gerard Piqué, one of the most important members of the Barcelona defense, returned to the field a few days ago after recovering from injury. He again withdrew from the team due to a knee injury.
In the 2nd leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, Barcelona got a great victory against Sevilla on Wednesday. In the additional time of this match, Piqué equalized the team by scoring a goal. Barca capped the victory by 3-0 as the match went to extra time. The Catalan club, which lost 2-0 to Sevilla, advanced to the final with a two-legged 3-2 victory.
A day later, Barcelona announced in a press release that Piqué had suffered a ligament sprain in his right knee. The 34-year-old has not yet been told how long he will be out of action.
After being sidelined for almost three months with a knee injury, Piqué returned to the field with a 4-1 defeat to PSG in the last 16 of the Champions League last month. In all, he has played just 15 matches this season. According to Spanish media, he will have to spend at least three more weeks outside the field.
