Dhallywood’s renowned actress Pori Moni has accused a businessman of rape and attempted to murder her. She made the allegation at her Banani residence in the capital around 10:45 pm on Sunday.

“The man identified as Nasir U Mahmud, a member of the Dhaka Boat Club’s executive committee (entertainment and culture),” Pori Moni said.

The actress alleged that Nasir U Mahmud attacked her at the boat club in Uttara four days ago. Nasir U Mahmud, chairman of Kunj Developers Limited, a founding member of Dhaka Boat Club and a real estate businessman. He is also the former president of Uttara Club.

Describing the incident, Pori Moni said her family friend Omi and her costume designer Jamie went to Dhaka Boat Club on Wednesday (June 9) night. Omi introduced Pori to some people who were “drinking alcohol” there. Omi later introduced her to a man named Nasir U Mahmud – who later introduced himself as the president of Dhaka Boat Club. “There Nasir offered me liquor. When I didn’t want to drink, he tried to force me to drink liquor. At one point, he slapped me and tortured and tried to kill me,” she alleged.

“Omi, a businessman and Jamie’s school friend, also involved in the incident,” claimed Pori Moni. “I have a lot to say. It hurt me mentally for four days. You wouldn’t be able to talk if you were in my place.”

After the incident, Pori Moni went to Banani police station to complain. She alleged that “no officer in charge at the time had recorded her statement”. At that time, with the help of the police, she went to the hospital but returned home without any treatment.

The actress expressed concern about her safety at the press conference. During this, Pori Moni was seen breaking down in tears more than once.

I am not a girl who will commit suicide. If I die, it means someone killed me, Pori Moni said, adding: “I will die with judgment. I have been wronged. I want justice.”

Meanwhile, after Pori Moni’s allegations, no statement has been received from the main accused Nasir U Mahmud so far.

Earlier on Sunday evening, Pori Moni claimed that she became the victim of rape and attempted murder through a status on her verified Facebook page.

Narail’s daughter Shamsunnahar Smriti quickly became popular after she debuted in the film industry in 2015 under the name Pori Moni. She has already acted in more than two dozen films.
