Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the people rejected BNP by voting as they failed in movement.

He made the remarks after paying tribute at Bangabandhu’s portrait at Dhanmondi-32 on Thursday.

Obaidul Quader said, “As the people rejected the BNP’s movement, they also rejected them in the election. Let them fight, let them do it. We do not have any headache. I think the country’s people also do not care about them.”

He said, “Awami League will work for the people with the ideology of Bangabandhu. Our adjuration- we will always work for the country’s welfare, for the country’s people.”

“Those leaders who said ‘Bangabandhu did not want independence’- I think that they do not have any respect towards Bangabandhu. I do not even need to think.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the historic Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu.

The Prime Minister paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi-32 at around 7:00 am.

Later, flanked by the party’s central leaders, Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League (AL) president, placed another wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait as the party chief.

During this time, Tofail Ahmed, Amir Hossain Amu, Matia Chowdhury, senior ministers of the Awami League including the new ministers were present.
