Paturia-Daulatdia ferry services resume

Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River resumed after three hours of disruption caused by dense fog.

Authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) kept suspended ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route from 6:40 am to 9:25 am on Wednesday due to poor visibility for thick fog to avoid accident, said Zillur Rahman, acting DGM of BIWTC. 

Earlier, The authorities halted the movement of ferries since 6:40 am as thick fog blanket the area. Later, the launch and speedboats movement were also suspended to avoid any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, more than 400 hundred vehicles, including buses, trucks and cars, remained stranded at Paturia ghat. Passengers suffered most as the number of vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.

Later, ferry services resumed at 9:25 am as fog disappeared, said the BIWTC official.
