Patuakhali has recorded the highest rainfall in the last 15 years. On the other hand, the Bay of Bengal adjacent to Patuakhali is quite rough due to higher squally wind. Sea and the river water level have risen to a height of 3-4 feet.
Due to low pressure, heavy rains in Patuakhali from noon on Tuesday have caused extensive damage in different areas of the district.
According to the Patuakhali Meteorological Office, 251.8 mm of rainfall was recorded in the district in the previous 24 hours at 8 am on Wednesday – which is the highest in the last 15 years.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has asked Patuakhali’s Payra Port to display local cautionary signal no. 3 due to low formed in the North Bay and adjoining areas. Fishing trawlers have been asked to navigate near the coast as the sea is rough.
