Recently, reports have been published in various media that auto-promotion (pass) or pass without examination will be given in various classes of educational institutions, however, the matter is “baseless and rumor”, told Mohammad Abul Khair, public relations officer of the Ministry of Education, Daily Bangladesh on Thursday, saying, “The ministry had not yet taken any decision in this regard.”
Earlier, after the first coronavirus patient was detected in the country on March 8, all educational institutions in the country were declared closed till March 31. As the number of coronavirus patients in the country continued to increase, the holiday in educational institutions was extended in a few phases – which is still ongoing, also resulting in the postponement of this year’s HSC examinations.
Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has already made it clear that educational institutions will not be opened until the outbreak of coronavirus subsides. The government is taking various steps to compensate the students for the loss, she told in a virtual discussion recently.
“We don’t know exactly when we will be able to reopen the educational institutions,” said Dr. Dipu Moni, adding, “We cannot put billions of students and their families at risk. At the moment, there is no condition to open an educational institution. We need to monitor the situation. Measures will be taken after understanding the situation.”
