Papon becomes BCB director for 4th term

Incumbent president Nazmul Hasan Papon, MP, has been elected as the director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for the fourth time in a row.

He was elected director of the BCB board of directors Category-2 obtaining 53 votes on Wednesday.

The other winners in Category-2 are Gazi Golam Murtaza (Gazi Group Cricketers, 53 votes), Najib Ahmed (Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, 51 votes), Mahbub Anam (Mohammedan Sporting Club, 47 votes), Obed Rashid Nizam (Shinepukur Club, 51 votes), Salauddin Chowdhury (Kakrail Boys, 49 votes), Ismail Haider Mallick (Sheikh Jamal Cricketers, 52 votes), Enayet Hossain (Azad Sporting, 52 votes), Manzur Hossain Quader (Dhaka Assets, 49 votes), and Manzur Alam (Asif Shifa Cricket Academy, 48 votes), Fahim Sinha (Suryatarun, 51 votes), (Mithu, 50 votes).

Saiful Alam Swapan Chowdhury has been elected as the director from the Rajshahi region in the district and division category beating his opponent former Bangladesh national team captain Khaled Mashud Pilot by 7-2 votes.

Before the election, seven directors were elected unopposed in category-1. They are AZM Nasir Uddin and Akram Khan (Chattogram Division), Kazi Inam Ahmed and Sheikh Sohail (Khulna Division), Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel (Sylhet Division), Advocate Anwarul Islam (Rangpur Division), Alamgir Khan Alo (Barishal Division), Tanvir Ahmed Titu (Narayanganj) and Naimur Rahman Durjoy (Manikganj).

Tanvir Ahmed and Durjay have rivals in the Dhaka Division but they pull out their candidature before the elections. That's why Tanvir Ahmed and Durjay won without contest. 

Noted that the BCB election starts at 10 am on Wednesday and continue till 5 pm. A total of 19 candidates fought against 14 director posts.
