Palak receives vaccine as first member of Cabinet

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today has received the Covid-19 vaccine as the first member of the Cabinet Division.
He came to the booth of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at 10:30 am on Thursday and received the vaccine.
Earlier, BSMMU Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua took the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
“It is my social, state and personal responsibility to get vaccinated. People will get confidence and courage when they see me,” he remarked after taking the vaccine.
“Many people have gathered here today. People were hesitant, until yesterday, whether to get vaccinated, however, that hesitation has now gone. People get confidence after seeing us – this is what we want.”
About 200 people will be vaccinated at BSMMU today. “Hospital director Brigadier General Zulfiqar Ahmed Amin along with 200 people including teachers, doctors, resident students, officers and employees, Ansars will be vaccinated,” said BSMMU Treasurer Prof. Md. Atiqur Rahman.
Vaccinations are also being given at BSMMU’s convention center. There are eight vaccination booths, a post-Covid waiting room, two teams of physicians to monitor the vaccinated persons, four HDU (high-dependency units), an ICU unit with four beds, and two ambulances.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Covid-19 vaccination program at Kurmitola General Hospital on Wednesday. A total of five people were vaccinated on this day. Runu Beronica Costa, a senior staff nurse at Kurmitola General Hospital, was the first to receive the vaccine.
