Pakistan releases new map covering whole Kashmir including India’s Junagadh

Ahead of the anniversary of India’s revocation of Kashmir’s special status, Pakistan has released a new map that includes Kashmir. Junagadh in Gujarat has also been included in the new map.

After approving the new map at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Imran Khan said, “Today is the most historic day in the history of Pakistan. This is the first time that Indian-occupied Kashmir has been included in Pakistan’s map.”

Mentioning that all political parties in Pakistan agree in the decision, he said, “It is also a protest against the decision taken by the Indian government last year. It will be raised at the UN very soon.”

About the government’s move, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, “The Prime Minister has taken an unprecedented decision. This is the first time that Pakistan's position has been made clear to the world.”

The new map would soon become the official map of Pakistan with the approval of the Union Cabinet. Then it will be included in the school-college textbook, he added.

India, meanwhile, has not yet officially commented on the matter. However, a source in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs told the Hindustan Times that “Pakistan was having the wrong dream with the new map.”

On August 5, 2019, the Central Government of India repealed Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution, resulting in the residents of other Indian states were barred from buying properties in Kashmir.

Besides, the ban on Indians living in other states getting government jobs in Kashmir or permanent residence in Kashmir was also lifted.

The freedom-loving of Muslim-dominated Kashmir have vowed to continue their struggle against such a decision by the Narendra Modi government.

Meanwhile, Pakistan, which claims Kashmir as its part, has lodged a complaint with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over the Kashmir issue.
